Ans. Cellular barriers includes :-
1.Natural killer cell :- it is large granular lymohocyte.during this process apart from the phagocytes, another type of cells called natural killer cells kill virus infected cells and tumour cells of the body by creating perforin lined pores in the plasma membrane of target cells ( i.e. infected cell ).water enters through these pores causing sweelling and bursting of the diseased cells.
2.Neutrophils :- also known as polymorphs have fine or small granules in the cytoplasm.neutrophills play an important role im the defense mechanism of the body.
Neutrophils secrete substance like
a)Proteases,myeloperoxidases,elastases,metalloproteinases
Action- destruction of microorganisms
b) defensins - action anti microbial action,anti inflammatory action,wound healing,chemotaxis
c)cathelicidins - action antimicrobial action
3.monocytes :-it play an important role in defence mechanism along with neutrophils, these leukocytes provide the first line of defense.monocytes secrete:
a)Interleukin ( IL - 1) :- action- acceleration of inflammatory response.destrution of invading organisms
b)chemokines :- action - chemotaxis
c) colony stimulation factor and platelet activating factor.
4.Mast cell :- Mast cells are a type of innate immune cell that reside in connective tissue and in the mucous membranes. They are intimately associated with wound healing and defense against pathogens.

list the cellular and chemical systems in the 3rd line of defense.
Concept map : Defense Mechanisms Review : Defense Mechanisms before you start. Construct a concept map using the words below. 1.Draw a concept map outlining the different pathways of a human's immune response, including the 3 lines of defense and the process which each takes to ensure immunity to foreign or non self particles. 2. You may use additional words on junctions connecting the words to illustrate the connections. 3. Take the words/phrases and categorize them under pathogen, first line...
illustrates one of Freud’s defense mechanisms from the list below. Select your answers from the defense mechanisms listed below. Read each case, identify the defense mechanism, and explain how it is illustrated by the example (½ point for correctly identifying the defense mechanism, ½ point for correct explanation = 12 points total). 8. A man accused of rape justifies his behavior to himself by thinking that the woman had dressed and acted so provocatively that she was “just asking for...
Instructions: Each of the following 12 scenarios illustrates one of Freud’s defense mechanisms from the list below. Select your answers from the defense mechanisms listed below. Read each case, identify the defense mechanism, and explain how it is illustrated by the example (1⁄2 point for correctly identifying the defense mechanism, 1⁄2 point for correct explanation = 12 points total). See pages 40-41 in the lab manual as well as the textbook and powerpoint for definitions and examples. Name Lab Day...
lock granularity specifies the level of lock use. List and explain the four levels of lock granularity?
