Answer #1

In this cross the dark purple egg plant (male) is represented as ‘PP’ so the gamete is P. And white egg plant (female) is ‘pp’ so gamete is ‘p’.

Type of dominance : incomplete dominance

Male genotype – PP               Female genotype – pp

F1 progeny cross      PP x pp

Gametes Рxp

Progeny genotype Pp Phenotype - light purple (violet)

F2 progeny cross   Pp x Pp

Gametes P.p x P.P

Progeny genotype   PP, Pp, Pp, pr

F2 generation has phenotype  PP - Dark purple,  Pp- Light purple,   pp - white

The allele in heterozygous condition showing an intermediate color between the two homozygous phenotypes is called incomplete dominance.

In an experiment, homozygous dominant plants with purple flowers were crossed with homozygous recessive plants with white flowers. Mendel collected the seeds from this cross, grew F1-generation plants, crossed them to form a second generation, and then analyzed the plants of the resulting F2 generation. What results did he probably get? 1/2 the F1 and 3/4 of the F2 generation flowers were white 1/2 the F1 and 1/4 of the F2 generation flowers were purple 3/4 of the F1 and...
