The immature large red blood cells which are known as megaloblasts are produced abnormally in the case of megaloblastic anemia.
In megaloblastic anemia we fan see
* Increase in mcv
* Decrease hematocrit
* Increased homocysteine
* Hypersegmented neutrophils
( Mostly the bone marrow shows hyper cellularity).
Megaloblasts are those which have size more than the normoblasts . Megaloblasts contains fine reticulated nuclear chromatin and which is delicate showing the immaturity of the cell.
