Answer #1

What ecosystem in british columbia( or elsewehere) is susceptible to invasive species ?

answer : ecosystems such as islands , mountain wetlands , Pacific coastal areas  are more susceptible to invasive species due to the lack of competition. Since island is an isolated area, so there are less no of species present and less migration of species is there. There are very few predators and natural competitiors.

if we want to make an ecosystem less susceptible to invasive species, what could we do ?
answer : we cannot totally wipe off invasive species but we can inhibit them from occuring at first place . few easy steps to be taken are :

1. Look for garden plants which are free of invasive species

2. Clean your footwear before hiking into a new place . They might have pathogens in them

3. Check for fruits and vegetables while travelling, they might have invasive organisms which can harm to themselves only .

4. Owe a pet or aquarium fish only if you can take care and look after it , because you cannot release them freely in wild areas later

5. help to educate others as well regarding invasive species

6. Look into local gardens and nearby places for invasive species .

How could we incorporate our knowledge of ecosystem susceptibility to invasive species into reserve planning?
answer : 1. we can create awareness among people regarding the about the impact of invasive species in our ecosystem

2. Prevent the spread of invasive species of international borders .
3. Biological, physical and chemical control should be done
