Answer #1

Answer: d. Wrinkled and yellow.

Explanation:

Both the crosses are an example of mendelian monohybrid crosses as only one trait of the parents which are crossed is involved.

For cross 1: seed shape is the trait

Note: As a standard in mendelian monohybrid cross, only the dominant trait is expressed in F1 generation and in

F2 generation, dominant:recessive traits are expressed in the phenotypic ratio 3:1

In cross 1 it can be seen that in F1 generation, wrinked seed shape trait is expressed and in F2 generation the wrinkled : round seeds are in the ratio of 5474 : 1850 which is approx 3:1 only.

So for cross 1, dominant trait is wrinkled seeds.

Similarly, cross 2 is also an example of monohybrid cross with the trait seed colour.

There, in F1 generation yellow seed colour trait has been expressed and in F2 generation the ratio of Yellow :Green seeds obtained is 6022:2001 which is approximately 3:1 only.

So the dominant trait in this cross is yellow seed colour.

In one of Mendel's experiments he crossed two rule breeding pea plants. One produces yellow and round seeds and the other produces green and wrinkled seeds. Yellow and round are dominant traits whereas green and wrinkled are recessive. We will classify yellow as ''Y'' green as ''y'' round as ''R'' and wrinkled as "r" In part A show F1 generation using punnet square. In part B show a punnet square for F2 generation from dihybrid cross. In part C by...

    8) You plant some of Johnny and Jenny's offspring. Two in particular become your favorite plants and you name them Jamie and Josie. You decide to cross these two plants together (you can cross siblings in plants, but this is not really something that occurs very often in humans for various reasons!). Place the gametes that would result from meiosis in Jamie and Josie in the top row for Jamie and left column for Josie of the Punnett square. Then...

On the island of Notion, in the Factotum Archipelago, there lives a population of pencil bears. A portion of these bears have silky fur, and as a result, are much better surfers. The texture of the fur is determined by a single autosomal locus with two alleles: S (trait allele) and s (wild type allele). In a recent study, researched collected the values in the following table: Table 1. Counts of Pencil Bear fur style by genotype Phenotype Genotype Silky...
