Answer #1

Ans: Siblicide is a phenomenon observed in some species in which the killing of infants is observed by its own relatives or siblings. In some cases of silicide, it is observed that parents are also involved indirectly in the killing of infants. However, in most cases, the parents make an effort to prevent this.

Masked boobies are the species of sea birds present in the tropical oceans that are taller in height. They dive into the ocean for feeding itself. The researcher found these birds kill themselves in order to thrive and are an important intrinsic part of the success of reproduction. After hatching and babies come out, it is observed that the parents of infants encourage siblings of these babies to fight with each other. The parents involve a battle contest between younger and older babies and the occurrence causes the killing of either younger or older babies. The battle causes the killing of weak or kill babies and the existence of a healthy one. These sacrifices are done in order to long term gain. This scenario shows that parents of masked boobies do not put any effort to stop siblicide and encourages it to happen.

The two postulates of special relativity sometimes lead us into conclusions that do not make sense with our classical intuitions; these cases are called "paradoxes." In many resolutions of these paradoxes, one key result in special relativity, "relativity of simultaneity" plays a key role. Explain what "relativity of simultaneity is and describe one situation where this understanding helps resolve a special relativity paradox.

13 In most cases, animals have a variety of prey items. This means that within a community, there will often be a network of interactions between the organisms found there. In the marsh example from above, there are a variety of insects chewing on the marsh plants. There are also a variety of predators eating the insects. Those predators are eaten by other predators, thus creating a complicated food web. Today in lab, you will create a food web with...

In most cases, mutations in the core of a protein that replace a smaller nonpolar side chain in the wild-type (e.g., Ala, Val) with a larger nonpolar side chain (e.g., Leu, Ile, Phe, Trp) in the mutant, result in significant destabilization and misfolding of the mutant. What feature of the protein core explains this observation? Why would such a mutation prevent a protein from folding properly?
