Q14: In order to express a human protein in a bacterium, the complementary DNA (cDNA) of that human gene must be inserted into the bacterium rather than simply the gene cut out of genomic DNA. Please explain why.

I believe the correct answer to be:

cDNA are required because they are made using the mRNA and hence do not contain the introns that are present in genomic DNA. These introns do not code for any aminoacid in a protein and are removed in eukaryotes during maturation of mRNA but since the prokaryotes such as bacteria does not have introns, they do not have the mechanism to remove them as well so if a normal DNA sequence is used to express a protein, a completely different protein will be produced rather than the one selected.
