Answer #1

Question 1:

A. Bacteriophage

Bacteriophage is not involved in bacterial conjugation. It is involved in Transduction in which donor DNA of bacteriophage are transferred or infect the host bacteria.

F+ and F- cells involve in bacterial conjugation.F+ cells contain F plasmid or F factor ( fertility factor) which has genes required for the transfer of conjugation. It act as donors and its DNA gets replicated ,newly synthesized DNA from F+ gets transferred to F- cells ( lack F plasmid or fertility factor).

The F plasmid which is known as conjugative plasmid involve in conjugation. It contains gene for bacterial conjugation.conjugative pili also known as sex pili allow the transfer of DNA from one bacteria to another in conjugation.

Question 2:

B. Diploid genome

Eukaryotes are with diploid genome . Diploid genome is not a feature of prokaryotic.

Prokaryotes are usually with haploid, circular genome found in the nucleoid( cytosol or cytoplasmic) and it lacks membrane bound organelles.

    13. Which of the following statements about conjugation is false? A) Conjugation is sexual reproduction for bacteria B) In conjugation a bacterium carries a fertility plasmid. C) In conjugation a bacterium forms a small hollow tube called a pilus. D) In conjugation a bacterium attaches to a neighboring bacterial cell that lacks a fertility plasmid. E) Conjugation can be a problem because fertility plasmids often carry genes that endow cells with drug resistance or the ability to produce toxins.
