Mutation is a permanent alteration in the nitrogenous bases of DNA. And also bacteria can increase their genetic diversity through the recombination techniques of transduction, transformation, and conjunction.

In transformation bacterium takes up a piece of DNA floating in its surrounding. In transduction the DNA gets moved by virus from one bacterium to another. In conjunction the DNA gets transferred through a tube between the cells.

7- F plasmid, which is an example of large plamid that contains genes that allow the plasmids DNA to be transferred between the cells. The F pasmid can replicate its own DNA.
