Hi there. I really need help with this one. I don't fully understand and don't know where to begin, so please explain carefully. Thanks.

The picture below has species I-IV (teg = species in this case) and traits/characteristics (a-j). Classify species I-IV based on the traits (a-j) and draw a parsimony tree.

What effect would it have on your classification of the species, if it was based on the amount of shared characteristics/traits? Does it change anything if 0 (zero) is a primitive trait/characteristic?

III cats (out group) >here you can see IV have all primitive traits so it is outgroup.

And the I share common with ii and iii in only one traits which is c and it is diverged in d traits which has been modified.

And iii and ii share c e f traits .

But ii have more modified traits than iii like g h I and j.

So Ii is more recently evolved species.
