Answer #1

I have mentioned only the filling-up sentences in the snap.Hope this helps you..

Respiration is an oxidative process in which free energy released from organic compounds are used in the formation of ATP ;as ATP act as the energy currency of the cell.

Respiration is categorized into 3 major processes:

1.Glycolysis being the first one ; in which 1 mole of Glucose is partially oxidized into 2 moles of pyruvate in a series of enzyme catalysed reactions.

It is a unique pathway that occurs in both aerobic as well as anaerobic conditions, and doesn't involve molecular oxygen.

Since pyruvate formed as a result of glycolysis can't enter into Krebs cycle as Krebs cycle occurs in mitochondria in eukaryotes* During cellular respiration, glucose is oxidized ! (oxidized / reduced) to provide energy for the cell. * The first stage o. So,it is converted to Acetyl CoA so that it can enter into mitochondria.

2.Kreb's cycle : In this process 2 molecules of carbon dioxide are produced for each acetyl group entering the cycle as acetyl-CoA .

3.Oxidative phosphorylation occurs in inner mitochondrial membrane in eukaryotes and in cytosol in prokaryotes.

It is an energy conversion process; in which free energy released in the form of NADH and FADH2 during glycolysis and Krebs cycle is used in the formation of ATP.
