Answer #1

before meiosis, the DNA replicates during S phase, so when chromatin condenses to form chromosomes during prophase I each chromosome has two sister chromatids attached to each other at the centromere, the homologous chromosome pair up this process is called synapsis, then crossing over occurs between the non-sister chromatids of the homologous chromosomes, then during metaphase I the pair of homologous chromosomes align at the metaphase plate. during anaphase I the homologous chromosomes are separated and moves to opposite poles, during telophase I the nuclear envelope reforms around the two haploid nuclei. then the cell divides into 2 haploid daughter cells.

during prophase II, the chromatin condenses, then spindle fibers start to form and attach to the chromosomes, then during metaphase II the chromosomes align at the metaphase plate, then during anaphase II the sister chromatids are separated and moves to opposite poles, and during telophase II the chromatids reach the poles and nuclear envelope reforms.

total four haploid gametes are formed by meiosis.

Drag the text blocks below into their correct order. Sister chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite poles of the cell
