Answer #1

The social interactions and their effects on mental health are significant in the case of Black girls and Black women. Racism and discrimination not only get them bullied but also affects their future goals and aspirations. It builds on the mental trauma which gets piled up and has psychologically adverse effects. This kind of interaction generates stress in the black girls and women which can have adverse effects for the coming generations. This psychological harassment comes from the constant fear of losing jobs, abuse in the workplace, lack of equal recognition, etc. This leads to poor education, a lack of confidence and less knowledge. The percentage of children graduating by African Americans is very less in comparison to whites. This leads to the imbalance that affects mental health in children which are stated by Mo’s, Miki’s, Nikki’s story of oppression.

INTERPRETING THE REAL LIFE STORY: Karen’s Experience I always disliked how my skin would get pale in the winter because I know I looked better with a tan. During the summer, my friends and I would lie out by the pool in our bathing suits. We wouldn’t even mind if we got a little sunburned, because we would just say “the burn will turn into a tan!” Before our senior prom, we all went to the tanning salon and used...
