I have a question about thyristors. I have an SCR with an VTM On State voltage that has the specification listed as a low value , "say 4.0 volts"

Peak On-State Voltage is generally low, correct ?

It's the forward voltage drop of the diode once the gate turns on SCR , correct ?

What is exactly VTM    for an type SCR ?

Answer #1

Vtm = peak on state voltage of SCR. ( Max ON state voltage)

- It is defined by the voltage drop between anode and cathode with specified junction temperature and ON state forward current.

- Its value is usually in the order of 1V to 1.5V.

- So , the given 4V is on state voltage. (Larger rating)

- Because On state voltage of SCR >> on state voltage of diode.

CODE 102_8 Welding Many welding processes require the application of heat and/or pressure to produce a suitable bond between the two parts being joined. There are a number of conventional and commercially practiced welding processes, which possess limitations in relation to material type and thickness, and in addition, the cost analysis may not allow for a process to be used on a specific application. The selection of suitable welding consumable (electrode or wire) is also an important factor in producing...
