Answer:
Blue green algae also known as cyanobacteria, are group of photosynthetic bacteria that many people refer to as "pond scum". Blue green algae are most often blue-green in colour, but can also be reddish-purple, or brown . Blue green algae generally grow in lakes , ponds and slow moving streams when the water is warm and enriched with nutrients like phosphorous or nitrogen.
When environmental conditions are just right, blue green algae can grow very quickly in number. Most species are buoyant and will gloat to the surface, when they form scum layers or floating mats. When this happens we call this a "blue green algae bloom". In wisconsin waters, blue green algae blooms generally occur between mid- june and late september, although in rare instances bloom have been observed in winter, even under the ice.
Many different species of blue green algae occur in Wisconsin waters, but the most commonly detected include anabaena sps.,aphanizomenon sps.,Microcystis sps. Etc..it is not always the same species that blooms in a given waterbody, and the dominant species present can change over the course of season.
Importance of blue green algae:
1) Not only has cyanobacteria been an important element for forming the earth's oxygen atmosphere, but it has also contributed to many other attributes important to human life.
2)Many proterozoic oil deposits are attributed to the activity of chanobacteria.
3) They are also important providers of nitrogen fertilizer in the cultivation of rice and beans.
4) The other contribution of cyanobacteria is origin of plants. The chloroplast with which plants make food for themselves is actually a cyanobacterium living within the plant's cells.
5)sometime in the late proterozoic, or in the early cambrian,c cyanobacteria began to take-up residence within certain eukaryotic cells,m aking food for the eukaryote host in return for a home. This event is known as endosymbiosis,a nd is also the origin of eukaryotic mitochondrian.
6)cyanobacteria are relatives of the bacteria, and not eukaryotes,a nd is only the chloroplast in eukaryotic algae to which the cyanobacteria are related.
7) Blue green algae have been used for weight loss and as a nutritional supplement.

Why were organisms formerly called “blue-green algae” recently moved to a different Kingdom?
Speedily tell me what you know and found interesting about Average and Marginal Costs. Gives some example of each of you concept. Conclude your thought with and question.
A researcher exposes a suspension of green algae that contain chlorophylls to different light sources with different wavelengths. Compared with a suspension of algae that is receiving white light, the algae exposed to artificial light from source 1 remains healthy but produces less oxygen and has a slower growth rate. The algae exposed to artificial light from source 2 stops to produce oxygen, and its growth is halted. Given your knowledge of chlorophylls, which of the following statements about the...
In Lab P you will extract and investigate a light-harvesting protein from a blue-green algae called _______. The phycocyanin protein appears colored because it is covalently bonded to ________ which is the chromophore that absorbs visible light.
What can you tell me about the Industrial Light and Magic- special effects. Why is it important? What changes happened with this?

1. Why would innovation be a dirty word? What was the most interesting invention in that collection of inventions? 3. Now tell me why? . I have long been of the opinion that the reason inventors don't become rich is because they tend to change focus and move on to other things; what do they do with their inventions? Why is innovention not invention? 6. If innovation is not invention, how can invention be innovation? 7. How does the example...
13.(6 points) Draw a phylogeny below that includes an apple tree, a redwood, moss, green algae, and a fern. Label on the tree when each of the following traits evolved: seeds(A) flower petals(B), roots(C), cuticle(D), dominant sporophyte stage(E). Circle the taxon you would consider a good potential outgroup. 14. (3 points) Temporal and behavioral isolation are examples of premating isolating mechanisms. Mechanical isolation, gametic isolation, and hybrid inviability are examples of postmating isolating mechanisms. Premating isolating mechanisms are considered much...
Can someone please tell me why this is suddenly is an addition (indicated by the blue arrow) when the formula has a subtraction here. Thanks in advance!! Exercise 25.2 The reaction 2 NO2(g) ? 2 NO(g) + O2(g) has a rate constant of k= 0.522 M-1 s-1 at 592 K, and a rate constant of k = 1.70 M-1 s-1 at 627 K. (a) Calculate Ea for the reaction, giving your answer in kJ mol-1. mal
