Answer #1

A data flow diagram is a way of representing the process of data.

Various components of DFD are:

1) processes- these are represented by circle and are used to show the change of input into output

2) flows- represented by arrow, they show the flow of data

3) warehouse- these are used to represent the storage of data, denoted by two horizontal lines

4) terminator- these are external entities that communicate with the system

A DFD is developed by analysts for developers to clarify the end requirements of clients. DFD needs to be consistent with ER-D.

ER-D or Entity relationship diagram depicts the interrelationship of things in a specific domain area. This consists of two parts:

1) entity type- this classifies things

2) specifications- this specifies the relationship between the entity types.

Now let's develop a Data flowvdiaflow and Entity relationship diagram to depict business processes of an online banking system.

We also would discuss about:

1) Zero level DFD- this gives the basis overview of the system. This would include in a nutshell high level process of online banking system.

Various components are:

a) management of bank

b) management of account

c) management of transaction

d) management of customer

e) management of account type

2) First level DFD- this is little deeper than zero level DFD- as it would include subsystems and their interrelationship, external agents, one or more data flow, internal data storage.

Various components are:

a) bank records and report

b) account records and reports

c) transfer records and reports

d) balance records and reports

e) customer records and reports

f) account type records and reports
