Answer #1

Question:

Answer:

Gene coded for seed color and enzyme in starch biosynthesis pathway are present in same chromosome because starch forming enzyme’s gene affect color of seed. For example: PP gene gives code for red color in presence of SS genotype of starch forming gene. But same genotype PP gives different color with Ss or sS genotype of starch forming gene. Hence, Starch forming gene is controlling phenotype of color. Similar results also shown by Pp, pP, and pp genotypes.

Which of these statements is incorrect? Syntenic genes are located on the same chromosome. Independent assortment results in recombinant chromosomes. Do expect the cell to produce more ATP from one glucose molecule or from one fatty acid molecule? Explain your answer. Indicate whether the following statements are true or false. If a statement is false, explain why it is false The proteins of the electron-transport chain remove a pair of high-energy electrons from the cofactors, NADH and FADH_2, after which the electrons move across the inner mitochondrial membrane to maintain the voltage gradient. Gluconeogenesis is a linear reaction pathway that...

An agronomist crossed two true breeding Guava plants. one parent is characterized by being Round, terminal, violet and constricted, while the other expresses the contrasting phenotype of wrinkled, axial, white and full. Assume that the four pairs of contrasting traits are controlled by four genes (RTVC) with each located on a separate chromosome. In the F1 generation, only round, axial, violet and Full were expressed while in the F2 generation all possible combination of these traits were expressed ratios consistent...

Dr. Zoidberg investigates the genetics causes of boneitis, a (fictional) bone disease for which the symptoms become visible when individuals tum 30 years old. It is already known that the disease follows an autosomal dominant pattern, with only one locus involved. Dr. Zoidberg analyzes data from a family for which the allelic status for the gene ADHIA (encoding the ADH - Alcohol Dehydrogenase- enzyme) has already been determined via protein electrophoresis (see lecture #3). The results are shown below. Hatch...

You decide to test if these two new genes are on chromosome #2, so you perform a three-gene linkage testcross using a gene that you know is on chromosome #2, trp, a mutant that cannot make its own tryptophan (and so must get it from its food). Assortment of genes on same chromosome In the fruit fly Drosophila, there is a dominant gene for normal wings and its recessive allele for vestigial wings. At another gene locus. there is a dominant gene for red eyes and its recessive allele for purple eyes. A female that was heterozygous at both gene loci was mated with a male that is homozygous for both recessive alleles. Knowing this, complete the sentences with the correct terms. 94% crossing over independent assortment...
