Proteins are made up of amino acids and are long chained polypeptides forming a three dimensional netenet that are biologically active.

When multiple amino acid units links together by the formation of peptide bond within units. These bonding present in the structure helps in stabilizing the protein.

Different class of protein include

Fibrous- fibre like structure

Globular- in the form of entangled spherical mass

Membrane- membrane proteins

The layers of structure within a protein include,

Primary structure- it consists of straight long chain of amino acids.

Secondary structure- It is of two types ( alpha helix and beta pleated)

Teritiary structure- The ensamble of folds and chains of amino acids form polypeptide known as teritiary structure.

Quaternary structure- the structure which contains multiple polypeptides chains is known as quaternary structure.

Different ways of disrupting protein structure

By applying heat

By the treatment with acid or alkali

By the solvent

Disrupting the protein structure breaks the secondary and tertiary interactions and there by proteins loses their activity or gets killed.
