1. A literature review is a comprehensive summary of a topic from previous research. The literature review surveys articles, books, and other relevant sources for a specific research area. This previous research must be listed, described, summarized, critically evaluated, and clarified. This will provide a conceptual basis for research and help you decide the essence of your research (the author). The literature review recognizes the work of previous researchers and thus assures the reader that your work has been well-conceived. It is assumed that the author has read, evaluated, and assimilated this work into the work at hand by mentioning a previous work in the field of study.
2. Self-efficacy refers to the belief of an individual in his or her ability to perform behaviors necessary to produce specific achievements in performance. Self-efficacy reflects trust in the ability to control one's own motivation, behavior, and social environment.
3. The socio-cultural adjustment demonstrates an individual's relation to the new society. It is linked to the awareness of an individual about different cultures, the duration of residence in the host culture, and the contact of value and quantity with local people. The three predictors of socio-cultural change most frequently reported in the literature are language skills, social interaction with local people and acculturation.
4. International students are defined as visitors "non-immigrant" who temporarily come to take classes in the United States. A non-immigrant is someone who: intends to stay temporarily in the U.S.; has no U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status (a "green card"); requests a visa to enter the U.S.
