Solution :

The different kinds of enzyme inhibitors are as follows :

  • competitive
  • noncompetitive/mixed
  • uncompetitive inhibitors

Competitive - Competitive inhibitors compete with the substrate at the active site, and therefore increase Km. An example is methotrexate, which resembles the folate substrate of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). This enzyme.

Non competitive - they are the enzyme that do not resemble the substrate and bind not to the active site, but rather to a separate site on the enzyme.

Uncompetitive -

They are the final type in which the inhibitor doesn't have an affinity for the enzyme & binds to the [E-S] complex to form [E-S-I].

But This type of inhibition decreases both of Vmax & Km .
