A  3-phase,  690  V,  star-connected,  50  Hz,  6-pole  induction  machine  has 

phase-equivalent circuit parameters of: 

R1 = 0.045 ,  R2 = 0.06 ,  X1 = 0.16 ,  X2 = 0.28   and  Xm = 6  

(i)  Calculate the peak torque and the slip at which this occurs. 

(ii) Calculate the starting torque, starting current and power factor. 

(iii) Sketch a plausible torque-speed characteristic for this machine based 

on the results from (i) and (ii). 

(iv)  Calculate  the  Active  Power  that  will  be  exported  to  the  grid  if  the 

machine is driven at a speed of 1030 rpm.
