Both colchicine and Taxol inhibits mitosis. Colchicine is a alkaloid ( and a poison ) ,produced by plants belongs to the family Liliaceae.  It inhibits the microtubules to form spindle fibres . That is , it inhibits the microtubule polymerization . Taxol prevents the straining of microtubules and inactivates it , thereby it prevents the mitosis and eventually kills the cell.
