Answer #1

1) PROS

. Schools conducting BMI screenings are helps to identify the healthy students and disease risking students.

. No expensive equipments are required for calculating BMI. For calculate BMI, measure of height and weight are only required.

. It is the simple way to calculate weight in relation to height.

CONS

.  BMI of students are calculated based on the height and weight . Doesn't take an account that weight is comes from fat or not. That is , if a student with normal BMI may suffer from excess body fats.

. It doesn't consider weight of fat, waist size etc.

2) BMI is the Body Mass Index . It measure obesity ,under weight and normal weight of people. It helps to know the health status or disease risks of people. The BMI is measured by using height and weight. The value of BMI is expressed in Kg/m2. Students ( or people ) with under 18.5 Kg/m2 BMI indicates they are under weighted, value between 18.5 and 25 Kg/m2 indicates the students have normal health and if the value of BMI is above 25 Kg/m2 indicates the students are over weighted . Using BMI test , we can identify the students  are under weighted , normal or over weighted.

BMI is not a diagnostic tool , but it helps to know the health status of students. From analysing BMI of different children , some students ( over weighted ) are not engaged in sports. And the students with normal BMI are engaged in different activities. Fatty food habits, inheritance etc. influences the students weight and height .

3) BMI helps to know better about students. BMI may helps to improve under weighted students to normal healthy person by changing his/her diet and activities. And the obesity of students can be reduce by practising exercise and reducing fatty foods.

School should take BMI of each students. Because BMI helps to categories students based on their healthy status. Thereby improves fitness of the students. By identifying under weighted or over weighted students , it is easy to take measures to avoid risks related to diseases for them.
