Imagine an artificial cell submerged in a beaker of water. There is an equal concentration of NaCl on either side of the cell membrane. The membrane is permeable to water. It also contains an artificial NaCl pump which can pump NaCl from inside the cell when power is connected (when the pump is off, the membrane is impermeable to NaCl). The pump is turned on and 50% of the NaCl in the cell moves to outside the cell. What happens? Select all that apply

As 50% of NaCl is transported out of the cell, its concentration is high outside which is compensated by flow of water from inside to outside. As a result of this the volume of the cell goes down and the cell shrinks.
