Answer #1

Have the web and the Internet (and social media) changed the importance of intellectual property?

In today's society, social media and intellectual property issues have caused concern as far as defamation, patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. This has changed the way employers view IP. An employee who creates intellectual property in the normal course of their duties cannot claim to own that intellectual property. However, if the employee is not employed to create intellectual property, but does so, then the employee will own the intellectual property.
