The difference in cognition between early adulthood and middle adulthood

Early Adulthood

It usually begins from age 20 and lasts till age 40, during this life span our cognition becomes stabilize and there is not much difference seen in our cognition and it reaches to its peak around the age of 35 after which it gradually tends to fall down or decline as we move towards further phase of our life. The energy of an individual is peak in this time period and therefore they can learn any sort of things and apply them in later life like studies, research or occupation and it’s also a time period of relativistic thinking where people begin to think that other people might have their own views or opinion about what is wrong or right or what is moral or immoral. We begin to peep in and think about various ideas and concepts from multiple angles and try to figure it out that one question can have more than one way to approach, and this not only helps you in life but also helps you in your difficult phase. We tends to become more creative as we move further and acquire or learn new things and develops various problems solving skills which helps us in our carrier field and education.

Middle Adulthood

It usually begins from age 40 and lasts still age 65. We know there are two forms of intelligence which are crystallized and fluid intelligence and they play a vital part in middle adulthood. In middle adulthood crystallize intelligence remains steady while fluid intelligence gradually tends to decline but it happens less for people who are involve in teaching activities like professors and teachers as they are into the profession of teaching and they revise the activity frequently so there cognition and retention power is strong but for general and mass number of people it slows down with age. We know that crystallized intelligence is wholly dependent upon knowledge and experience that we have developed over ages, thus skills and strategies that we have gathered during our lifetime becomes steady as we proceed and sometimes it can become more accurate or improve through experience later. On the other hand Fluid intelligence holds primary information, tasks and, skills, it involves thinking abstractly and solving problems and this starts to decline during middle adulthood and our attention span start to flicker and we fail to concentrate for a longer period of time.
