Write a postive and nice comments about Sam work

Sam Work:

On Monday I started my day with the supervisor of Plant Ops. In a hospital setting Plants Ops is in control of the physical building including HVAC, electric, repairs, water leaks, and anything that is apart of the physical building. Running a building for 24/7 operation has a group of challenges on its own, in addition to those challenges running a healthcare facility includes greater maintenance and control. One aspect of Plant Ops I had not considered prior to this was the needed to closely monitor the air temperature and humidity for services such as surgery or cath lab. These required both temperature and humidity to be within a very specific range, and if an error occurs immediate action needs to be taken. There are also various rules and compliances that need to be follow within the physical building in order to maintain certain accreditations. This section of the organization must be able to have effective communication skills with other departments on receiving request orders and on filling them as well as implementing new projects with other departments.

On Tuesday I was able to attend a meeting at the health department to determine whether or not CPR classes will be available to the county employees and the public. I was able to see how those decisions were determined, and how collaboration with different outside organizations was needed to form a decision. I also sat in on a Quality Improvement meeting where we reviewed the results of a few PDSA’s. I was able to help give some ideas on how to improve communication within their workplace as well as provided my thought process behind motivating leadership within the workplace. During leadership meetings with the hospital there is a book club. Right now we are reading a leadership-based book called "Eat That Cookie". It was neat to share with them that the leadership team at HRMC was doing these clubs, and it might be beneficial to the health department to consider doing something similar.

I attended seminar to inform HRMC leaders about how to implement some new changes towards becoming an HRO. This included HRMC's reporting culture. I thought it was interesting learning about how leaders in healthcare have to balance trust within their team while reporting errors staff may make as well as making sure their decisions are ethical. I think the direction the organization is taking with their "reporting culture" will help enhance a positive change in reporting more errors while maintaining trust within the team.

Later that day I was able be apart of the HIM team. I observed part of the long journey a patient’s bill takes once they are discharged from he hospital. They first go through and analyst who verifies all documents are accounted for and signatures are provided. Then they go to coding where they transfer services into codes that form claims. This was just one small part of the revenue cycle that goes into a patient’s account.
