Research and select one topic in Chemistry that is of current interest, using the books and electronic databases that cover science topics. Use the available resources to find and investigate a topic that you can use to write a research report as described in Exercise 2. The topic can be in any area of Chemistry that interests you.

1. A page with your full name, a title of the topic in chemistry that you have selected based on research.

b)         A half page write up of your topic.

c)         a works cited list of 16 information sources, in MLA bibliographic format, that you explored while selecting a topic. Make sure you list them under the appropriate categories, ex: Category Scientific Journals: then list the four journals. These should be as follows:

i.          Four references to scientific journals; scientific journals are publications of professional scientific societies and organizations.

ii.         Four references to reference books, including encyclopedias.

                      iii.        Four references to newspapers and news magazines

iv.        Four references to popular science publications such as Scientific American, Discover, Science News, etc.

a)    The topic is based on "SYNTHETIC ORGANIC CHEMISTRY" .

b)      Our specific area of interest is Synthetic Organic Chemistry because of its wide application in fields like Supra-Molecular Chemistry ,Polymer Chemistry ,Material Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. We had studied many reactions ,where different reagents and catalysts can be used to produce a wide variety of products. Organic catalytic chemistry is one of the advanced fields in research which had progressed rapidly in last ten years. Organo catalysis uses small organic molecules composed of non metals which accelerates the reaction.It is also interesting that Organo catalysis has many advantages ,including there is no need for a metal based catalyst making a contribution in green chemistry. It also has a wide application in Aldol reaction.
