So this can be due hypomagnesemia or hypocalcemia that is due to the deficiency of the ion magnesium or calcium.
So the characteristics of the hypomagnesemia or hypocalcemia are :
- hyperactive reflex, positive chvostek's sign
- numbness
- tingling of the finger tips and around the mouth.

( The numbness and tingling sensation can be due to respiratory alkalosis also).
