Name some of the mechanisms associated with each (maximized vs. minimized dispersal). Under what circumstances would you expect selection to favor increasing dispersal, and when would it favor minimizing it?

There are five main modes of seed dispersal: gravity, wind, ballistic, water, and by animals. Some plants are serotinous and only disperse their seeds in response to an environmental stimulus.
