Think about the pros and cons of self-disclosure. When individuals work in the field as peers, there is an interest in sharing their own journey to recovery with others. What are your thoughts about self-disclosure? When should it be used and why?

The advantages of self disclosure includes the reduction in stress and potential of development of mental Illnesses and anxiety disorder. It also helps individuals to maintain Relationships and allows to introspect into one's thoughts .It helps in forms oneso identity and aids in the process of relieving pent up feelings that may lead to aggression . It also contributes to the process of self clarification. The disadvantages of self disclosure includes rejection, negative impression, loss of ifluence and loss of control. Thus self disclosure must be used when trusted individuals are confronted or individuals with a similar nature can be talked to. It must be done in such a way that it does not hurt the other person and maintains confidential relations.
