The white settlers threatened the culture and way of life of Native Americans by taking possession of their lands and making them work for them. They completely forced them to leave their homelands and made them settle in designated Indian territories. By way of mediating this issue, the civilization campaign was initiated to make the native Americans as white as possible by encouraging them to convert to Christianity. Adopt white culture such as read and speak English. But some tribes settled in much coveted lands and while settlers wanted that land, thereby driving the native Americans out. Thus the program benefited some who converted to white ways, while some who converted where moved out through any means as white settlers wanted the land. Thus all in all the program wasn't successful on a large scale as it only benefitted some tribes at the cost of them losing their identity.
