Answer #1

I am for the police use of body cameras.

For arguments regarding the police use of body cameras: The reason why I am for the police use of body cameras is because of the fact that the use of body cameras creates transparency as well as accountability. This in turn reduces both police as well as anti-police violence. Secondly use of body cameras also helps to provide evidence and this is useful while proving or disproving any allegations with regards to police misconduct. Thirdly the use of body cameras can serve as a good and useful tool for police training. All in all police use of body cameras lead to increased safety of the public as well as the police. It generally encourages good behavior from police as well as public and this directly leads to decrease in violence. Moreover police accountability increases and so police officers are protected from false accusations of misconduct. Lastly the use of body cameras serve as a good tool for learning and is useful to train new officers as well as existing officers.

Against arguments regarding the police use of body cameras: The first argument against the police use of body cameras is that it can have a negative impact on the physical as well as mental health of police officers. Secondly it can invade the privacy of the citizens and this can damage police-public relationships. Lastly body cameras are too expensive and often unreliable as well.

Based on the above point of views and statements I can say that the benefits from the police use of body cameras clearly outweighs the negatives of the police use of body cameras and in the long run it will be in the interest of the citizens of the society as well as the police officers and the entire police department when police use of body cameras is allowed in a systematic manner.
