answer-

With increase use of Data and information in every business. there has been increased risk to protect the data of customers more than ever. Businesses have to take all measures so maintain the privacy of their customer's information otherwise the breach of data can damage companies to a level which can be unrecoverable. Consumer privacy protection is the use of laws and regulations to protect individuals from privacy loss due to the failures and limitations of corporate customer privacy measures. ( Lee, Dong-Joo, 2011) .

There are many companies like Amazon, Facebook,Yahoo etc which deals with storing huge amount of customer's information and put many privacy measures so that data is secured and private but they also faced data breaches and suffered legal suits for that in millions and billions of US dollars.

Corporate customer privacy practices are approaches taken by commercial organizations to ensure that confidential customer data is not stolen or abused.((Siam, Kayla,2017) this seem good but in real life data breaches are becoming more common. Equifax revealed in a press release that a hack on its networks exposed names, birth dates, social security numbers, addresses and some driver's license numbers.(soo youn, 2019). other companies like Yahoo also faced data breach in 2013 and 2014 in which Billions of accounts were affected with data breach.

We know facebook that it is perceived to be a company which we can put our faith in but this Company also break that faith and put privacy of customers at risk. Facebook let Cambridge Analytica to harvest the personal data of millions of peoples' Facebook profiles without their consent and used it for political advertising purposes.( Graham-Harrison, Emma; Cadwalladr, Carole, 2018) .

Government passed Consumer privacy protection act called The California Consumer Privacy Act on June 28th of 2018 . this Act is the strongest privacy legislation enacted in any state at the moment, giving more power to consumers in regards to their private data. With a variety of major tech giants based in California, including Google and Facebook (both of which have recently suffered data breaches), AB 375 is poised to have far-reaching effects on data privacy. AB 375 will go into full effect on January 1st, 2020.

all i can say, that Companies and Government should put all the efforts to make sure that consumers can have their faith in business organizations by knowing that their information is safe and sound.
