Answer #1

In my opinion it is not right to incarcerate a person who is mentally ill. I have this stance perhaps because the person mat have committed the crime under the influence of the disorder. However I also believe that this should be based on the severity of the crime. If the crime is a gross murder or rape, then I think I won't be able to stick to what I said. However for petty crimes, the alternative solution can be to send the person to counseling. Once the person is treated and cured or is at least aware of what he has done, then he can be sentenced the punishment that he deserves.

You haven't mentioned what therapies are mentioned in your book so I won't be able to answer that.

However some therapies work better than others. This may be largely due to the individual differences. People may be genetically strong to respond to certain therapies or all therapies in general. However I believe in a combination of treatment methods. Therapies can be combined with medication and counselling to better treat disorders.

Hope this answer helps! If it did, kindly rate a thumbs up. For further clarification on the answer please mention in the comments section.
