What factors affected the availability of 1940s resources for health promotion within the community? And What would you do as a community health administrator do to provide better services/resources for your consumers during this timeframe?
Health is considered as a resource and is determined by following factors- socioeconomic conditions, patterns of consumption associated with food and communication, demographic patterns, learning environments, family patterns, the cultural and social fabric of societies; sociopolitical and economic changes, including commercialization and trade and global environmental change.
In 1940s health was not given such importance. Health was among the secondary issues and few doctors and health care practitioners were there who treated physical features. And so very little effort was done in order to promote health care in communities. The general mindset was, if one is weak or ill he will become fit and fine either by himself or by God`s grace. People took professional care only at the times of dire needs so the promotion of health was limited in government policies and files. Very little was done in actuality. Though there were few local leaders and few learned people who understood the importance of health and thus made many efforts to promote health care in their areas, but such efforts very only a few.
As far as the present scenario is concerned, health care promotion should include the settings-based approach to promote health in specific settings such as schools, hospitals, workplaces, residential areas etc. Health promotion needs to be built into all the policies and if utilized efficiently will lead to positive health outcomes.
