The burning rates of two different solid-fuel propellants used in aircrew escape systems are being studied. It is known that both propellants have approximately the same standard deviation of burning rate; that is, = = 3cm/s. Two random samples of = 20 and = 20 specimens are tested; the sample mean burning rates are = 18.02cm/s and = 24.37cm/s. Test the hypothesis that both propellants have the same mean burning rate. Use a fixed level test with α= 0.05. To gain full credit, you should show all work.

I.(a) State the modeling assumptions.

(b) Define the parameter of interest.

(c) State the hypotheses.

(d) Calculate the value of the test statistic. What is the distribution of the test statistic.

(e) Find the p-value using the appropriate table.

(f) State the decision and the conclusion in the context of the problem.

II. Calculate a 95% confidence on the difference in means and

interpret your interval in the context of this problem.

1 pts Question 9 The burning rates of two different solid-fuel propellants used in air crew escape systems are being studied. It is known that both propellants have approximately the same standard deviation of burning rate, with a value of 3 cm/s. Two random samples of size 20 each are tested; the sample means are recorded as 18 and 24 cm/s. The burning rates of two fuel propellants, types A and B, are studied. It is assumed that the burning rates for the two propellants are normal, with standard deviations A = 1.08 cm/sec, and OB = 9.85 cm/sec. A random sample of 350 specimens of propellant A, and a random sample of 380 specimens of propellant B are taken. Assuming that ha= 5.3 cm/sec and JB = 4.2 cm/sec, find the probability that the difference of the sample means XA...

It is known that the combustion rate of the two propellants is distributed normally with standard deviations σ1 = 3 cm / s and σ2 = 2.9 cm / s. Two samples are tested size 20 random samples, one for each propellant, and the resulting sample means for the rate of combustion are: x̅̅1̅ = 18 cm / s and x̅̅2̅ =...

An oil additive for automobiles claims that it increases fuel mileage by at least a mean of 2.3 mpgwith a standard deviation of .5 mpg. A group of AP Statistics students decide to test this claim. They randomly select 49 people to test the oil additive and found that drivers using the additive increased their fuel mileage by a mean of 2.1 mpg, with a standard deviation of .5. Is this sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis in favor...

AS11ER2 AD3E62E60465... Reliance on solid biomass fuel for cooking and heating exposes many children from developing countries to high levels of indoor air pollution. An article presented information on various pulmonary characteristics in samples of children whose households in India used either biomass fuel or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). For the 754 children in biomass households, the sample mean peak expiratory flow (a person's maadimum speed of expiration) was 3.8 US, and the sample standard deviation was 1.2. For the...
