How are the log-dose-response curves of two drugs related to one another when the two drugs produce the same pharmacological response by acting at the same receptor? How is potency defined, and how can the relative potencies of two drugs be determined from their log-dose-response curves?

Drugs A, B, and C are Dopamine Receptor Agonists used to treat Parkinson’s disease.  Drug A has an EC50of 30 mg/mL, Drug B has an EC50of 20 µg/mL, and Drug C has an EC50of 40 g/mL.  Drug C is 50% less efficacious than Drugs A or B.  Graph these drugs on a semi-log graded dose-response curve (all on one graph and label the axis).  Can you determine the Kdof each of these drugs from the data (tell me why or why not too: HINT-look...

Two drugs (Drug A and Drug B) are being investigated for their effectiveness as anticonvulsants in the management of complex partial seizures and simple or complex absence seizures. In early preclinical development, they need to determine the affinity, efficacy, and potency for each drug. The results from the drug-receptor binding curves and the dose-response curves show that: 1) for Drug A it has a low Kd value, a high Emax, and a high EC50, and in comparison 2) Drug B...
