Proto-once genes are the genes which are important for growth and proliferation (division) of cells and can lead to cancer when mutated and over expressed. Generally a cell undergo apoptosis when cells critical function are hampered or cell starts malfunctioning but over expression of oncogene rescues the cells from apoptosis which get turns into cancer cells. Tumor suppressor gene prevent the rise of tumor. Density dependent inhibition prevent the cells to grow uncontrollably and thus prevent cancer. Apoptosis is program cell death and cancerous cells does not undergo apoptosis. So this is the oncogene which have potential to cause cancer when it is either mutated or over expressed.

So option D is right answer
