As per Freud, there are 5 psycho sexual stages(oral, anal, phallic,latency and genital) of development , each of which faces specific crisis that has to be resolved through adequate stimulation and parenting, nurturing. If in any stage , appropriate gratification is not provided , crisis remain in form of fixation inside personality and causes dysfunction.
