John is a 42 year old man who comes to you to get in shape and lose weight. As a father of 3, he finds it difficult to get into the gym and get a good workout. He also admits that he frequently finds himself eating "dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets and fries with the kids". He tries to walk during his lunch hour but his executive position at IBM doesn't always allow for that. He currently does 50 sit ups, 50 squats and 50 push ups every day. He'd like some ideas to improve his current program.

What are your immediate concerns?

What are the strengths of his current program?

What are the weaknesses?

What changes would you make to improve the current program?

What would you add to his program?

**Think about concentric movement, the best exercise to lose weight (is sit ups and push ups the best choice for getting in shape and losing weight?), talk about muscle work, nutrition (is he eating healthy?),etc

Is there anything you would ask him to eliminate?

Answer #1

The immediate concern towards the john 42 year old man is to check his improvement towards the current treatment and to alter his food intake and to concern about his body's fat percentage.

The strength of the current program is his willingness towards exercise and the squats and push for 50 times per day give a larger change in his routine.

The weakness of his current program is improper diet, to maintain a proper fitness it is mandatory to maintain a proper diet.

Changes in his current program is to do aerobic exercise which will reduce the fat percentage in the body and then the strengthening exercise is followed. The proper diet is given to him as a balanced diet with less carbohydrates and more protein intake. As a concentric movement the sit ups and push ups both are effect in shaping and reduce weight.

He should eliminate his nugget and can reduce the squat and push up count to 25 if he is adding aerobics with that.
