Inducible operons is an operon that is able to turn on in the presence of nutrients. Inducible operon is inactive in the absence of an inducer. Because repressor protein is binding to the operator region, but when there is an inducer it will bind to the repressor and make it inactive, then the RNA polymerase can transcribe to synthesize mRNA

It is a catabolic pathway because when there is no inducer operon will be in inactive mode so no enzymes are producing.

Eg Lac operon, lactose is the inducer and in presence of lactose produces 3 enzymes, they are beta-galactosidase, permease, and transacetylase to digest the lactose.
