Engineers primarily look at designing, building and testing the output of any structure, machinery or modern devices. They always tend to analyze the problems at hand and try to figure out solutions for the same using their capabilities and technical skills. Engineers are driven by innovation and often aim to create prototypes before going in for the large-scale manufacturing. Often these goals are driven by a solitary passion and sense of achievement. In the process, an overall perspective from a larger organizational framework is missed out and specific targets are met but the overall objective is lost.

Managers on the other hand show an overall organizational ability and often have several years of experience and responsibility. The task alignment gradually shifts from a technical perspective to a more administrative role. Managers account for smaller milestones and plan around the same to achieve a broader long term goal like the case is for a new product development. The interactions and works is more with other managers across departments to align with the company goals. The plan their budgets, staff and are actively involved in hiring a team that can help them achieve the major goals set forth. Often managers fail to understand the technical criticalities which is a small part of the larger system which may result in some kind of disenchantment with the engineers and other personnel.
