  1. State the specific purpose for each of the two procedures used in this lab: tube dilution and fingertip antisepsis.

2. For each procedure, tube dilution and fingertip antisepsis: Identify the control and state its purpose.

3.Cite advantages and disadvantages of the two procedures (tube dilution and fingertip antisepsis) used in this lab to assess antibacterial activity of chemical agents. (Hint: Think about the differences between the two procedures.

Answer #1

Tube Dilution is the standard method for determining levels of resistance to an antibiotic.

Fingertip Antisepsis is the measure of the number of Colony Forming Units(CFU) cultured from 10-digit fingertip imprints on agar plate. It approaches actively, acting against microbes.

The disadvantages of both the techniques are:

1. Labor-intensive and expensive

2. Test cannot be done in more than one antibiotic at a time.

The merit is that, it provides accurate determination of minimum inhibitory concentration of microbes.

please help with all pre-lab Dynamic Equilibrium Simulation with Pennies 1 of 11 on Equilibrium is a state where there are no observable changes over time. Equilibrium is achieved when the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction. R =P In this activity, we will simulate a reversible reaction where R = P: the reactant molecules (R) are pennies, which react and are transferred from the side to the P side, while the product molecules...

Grignard Reaction with a Ketone: Triphenylmethanol Introduction: The purpose of this lab is to prepare phenylmagnesium bromide, a Grignard reagent, and react it with benzophenone to give triphenylmethanol. Grignard reagents are very reactive and must be synthesized in an environment free of water or any other source of potential proton donor. Once made, the Grignard reagent will do a nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl carbon of the ketone, benzophenone. The result is an alkoxide that is then protonated to give...
