Answer #1

a) An American badger is diploid organism and has 32 chromosomes, this says that 2n = 32 chromosomes

n = haploid set of chromosomes and 2n = diploid set of chromosomes

So totally 16 pairs of homologous chromosomes are in each somatic cell

b) After mitosis two identical cells are created with same original number of chromosomes i.32 chromosomes in each daughter cell. Totally 64 chromosomes in both the identical daughter cells

c) During meiosis, a cell undergo division two kinds of division i.e meiosis I and meiosis II where chromosomal pairs are separated and resulting gametes have only copy from each set. So, 16 chromosomes are in an American badger's gametes.

These 2 gametes undergo fertilization produce 2n set i.e. 32 chromosomes from each of the gamete.
