1. Few years ago, I had begun working for a start-up organization on big data analytics. The organization was very small and I had joined as the sole marketing manager for the organization. Their online presence at that time was negligible. Naturally, I wanted some budget to be allocated for digital marketing but the CEO of the organization was against using paid marketing.

A few weeks after I joined, the CEO had a discussion with some of his friend and one of his friends seemed to have commented on the poor online presence of the company. That night I received an email that reprimanded me for not being able to generate enough awareness on the web.

This was a strange situation as I was not given enough time or budget to improve and I was being pointed out because the CEO’s ego was hurt. I believe this was a mistreatment that I still remember.

2. The CEO was responsible for the wrong treatment. He was unwilling to provide resource (money) to reach a target that he wants to achieve. However, considering our current standing, that would not be possible without spending money for marketing.

3. In this instance the human resources had no role and they could not have intervened unless I lodged a complaint. However, I did not lodge a complaint and rather spoke to the CEO about the matter.
