Andrew was a first-year jazz student, his passion was to play drum, it was his dream to be known as big drummer like Buddy Rich, Fletcher had noticed that quality in him, and he wanted him to play his best, he was very strict with the students to the point that one of his student Sean Casey had hanged himself as he had developed anxiety and could not take any more insult from him, hearing the news of students death also did not deter him from the music practice.
He wanted his student to play perfect music, in fact, he wanted to create a musician of the standard of Charlie Parker, and in his search, he was ruthless even insulting and hurting the students in the bargain he had got insulted by Andrew
Andrew was kicked out of the band; Mr. Fletcher had not forgotten the insult, to teach a lesson to Andrew he invited him to play in front of big musicians in the band. Playing in front of those musicians will make one's life, the intention of fletcher was to take revenge from Andrew for the previous insult he chose Upswinging that Andrew was not given sheet music for. Andrew could not perform, he left the show he could not bear the insult, his father hug him and with the new determination he went back on the stage crashes into a flawless version of Caravan, and insulted, interrupted Fletcher mid-speech, the band joined Andrew and Fletcher had no choice Andrew finishes flawless mind-blowing solo, and his teacher Fletcher gave him a nod of approval.
Why fletcher is called a charismatic leader, he wanted the best from his student, he had the example of Charlie Parker, who gave his solo performance after getting humiliated, he wanted the same from his student that at least in taking revenge from him the best would come out and that proved right, with Andrew giving his exceptionally flawless mind-blowing solo, after getting insulted by fletcher on many occasions, thus Fletcher succeeded and Andrew was born.
