Imagine that you are the manager of the human resource function for an international company known as NXT, LLC. Consider carefully two probable differences between the HR functions performed internationally versus domestically. Explain how would you address these differences, given the importance of the HR function.

The two probable differences between the HR functions performed internationally versus domestically is the need to have different set of HR policies and systems in case of International HR as per the country regulatory norms compared to domestic HR which only needs to have policies and systems as per the needs of the local rules and regulations. The International HR is different compared to domestic HR as there is a need to practice different HR functions to control the organizational resources along with adaptation to cultural differences for ensuring performance and welfare of the employees. The domestic HR functions are less challenging as there are less cultural differences between people and standard control and procedures of hiring, compensation and appraisal can be followed.

These differences need to be addresses integrating the regional HR strategies with the overall organizational strategy so as to maintain a collective identity for organization and a culture oriented towards achieving the company and business goals. There is a need to encourage common behaviour, values and practices for maintaining the organizational culture and following strategy for common identity and goals. This can be addressed with communication and coordination between regional HR and central HR functions with clarity of goals, roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures and evaluating the functioning and relevance of the regional HR teams with global HR practices.
