Induced fit hypothesis is used to explain mechanism of action of lactase and in general for other digestive enzymes. The part of the enzyme lactase, which binds to the substrate to transform it into product is called the active site. When lactose(substrate) binds to lactase, the binding causes conformational changes in lactose(substrate) and active site of lactase(enzyme) .These conformational changes induced by lactose enables precise orientation of lactase which is required for its catalytic activity and is termed as induced fit . With the precise orientation, lactase now acts by weakening the bonds in lactose to convert them into glucose and galactose.
Can someone explain why/how lactase breaks down lactose but using the concept of Induced fit and...
Look at the nutritional content of lactase milk. Lactose is an enzyme that breaks down the milk sugar lactose. For people who are lactose intolerant, lactase milk is more digestible. What can you conclude about the contents of lactose milk? Multiple Choice O Adding lactose increases the grams of sugars present compared to whole milk O C Although the lactase breaks down the disaccharide lactose, monosaccharides are still present O Adding lactase removes most of the sugar from the milk....
Enzymes are described as having specific substrates. For example, lactase enzyme breaks down the substrate lactose, a disaccharide, into glucose and galactose. Is lactase also able to break down starch, a polysaccharide made up of glucose?

True/false, if false explain why Callase enzyme, secreted by microspores, breaks down callose, which is a polysaccharide that keeps microspores in tetrads.
