When you are asked to recall your first day of kindergarten, you rely on ________, whereas when you are asked to recall the name of a person you just met a few seconds ago, you rely on ________.

We retrieve memories related to events that happened in the day or from the past from the long term memory. Long term memory stores our memories mostly in a permanent manner. Whereas, when we retrieve memory like names of persons or events that just happened a few seconds ago we depend on our short term memory.
